A Demo version of Guildwars
I was just thinking. You know, a demo version of guild wars would be kind of cool. They could completely limit it to the starter area.... no time limit like most MMORPG demos....just an area limit. Not allow them to advance unless they purchase the full title. This would give people who aren't sure about the idea of playing it a chance to see what they're missing out on.
(they should probably also prevent those demo people from joining guilds)

Maybe this should just be up to the devs. As it doesn't really affect us (unless demo people come up and start swearing and stuff; then it's a problem), it should be their decision. Right now, I would rather see more new things added than a Demo; if you want to try guild wars, just play it on your friend's computer to try it

But thats kinda the problem. its against the EULA, or ANY EULA for that matter, to share accounts. Even if its for 20 mins or so its still sharing your account. Worse, the game discription seems to incite worry in new players (It did in me for sure, I was almost afraid to pick up and try this game). Creating a demo for the game that is completly limited to pre~searing would be an excellent thing for A.net to do, and would help make a persons decision ALOT easier. We'd all like to see new things of course, but it would make things a ton easier for those that dont have the game and are certainly afraid to try it.

I was actually wondering why there wasn't a demo of GW back when I was first considering buying it. All my friends, committed to other games already were very much of the ilk: "How do you know it'll be any good if you can't play some of it?".
At the end of the day, a demo simply follows the model of give a little for free so everyone gets hooked. Seems like a good idea to me (though maybe I would suggest keeping the demo users to their own district).

In the same time if I had seen a Demo of GW I doubt I'd have purchased it. It's a game that hooks you the more you discover about it. The first things you see instead are just a spamming community and a simple gameplay.
The best comes once you start seeing more of the world, the story development and everything related to skills and strategy.

I'll go the other way on this and say I would have bought the game, I would have gotten to the end of pre-searing that first night and wanted more more and more.
EQ2 made a good move on this by allowing people to play the first island and that is all, I think it would be a good move for GW as well but not yet. Once the game has settled and all the bugs are weeded out. Right now the devs need to focus on the game and not new players.
